Although it is located amidst some of the busiest and most cosmopolitan island complexes of the Mediterranean, Tinos, is not yet another holiday destination. It is a place that transcends earthily needs and offers a unique opportunity for spiritual awakening. For Greek travellers, it is a place of worship and holy reverence: The Great Church of Evangelistria (Our Lady of Good Tidings) in the capital town is perhaps the best known landmark of the island; every year, on the 15th of August, thousands of pilgrims arrive to kneel before the sacred icon of Mother Mary and seek comfort in its grace.

However, Tinos is not just a place of religious fervor and spiritual healing. While it is true that its nightlife can’t be compared to that of the neighboring Mykonos, there still are plenty of wondrous sights to see and exciting daytime adventures to set off on! Perhaps enjoy one of Tinos’ many dreamy beaches or just explore the island coast to coast and discover the unmatched beauty of the island’s extraordinary marble-carved villages. In fact, some of the most prominent Greek sculptors of the previous century called Tinos home and their heritage is rather visible in the island’s architecture, particularly in the village of Pyrgos, birthplace of Yannoulis Halepas, Greece’s most famous sculptor.
Tinos humble tradition has kept it as a well-preserved secret within the Cyclades; a “great escape" from the hustle-and-bustle of touristic islands.
